Dedicated to the memory of Kath

This site is a tribute to Kath, who was born in Bloxwich on November 01, 1930. She is much loved and will always be remembered. Among several other potentially life-limiting daignoses, Kath, with the help of everyone at Stoke Mandeville Spinal Injuries Unit, overcame - at 83 years old - the effects of a spinal tumour to get back on her feet, and was still walking - albeit by then using a rollator or walking frame - in the weeks before she died, 13 days before her 94th birthday. Kath and the family are forever indebted to her rehabilitation consultant at Stoke Mandeville, Mr Maurizio Belci, and to her consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Parmjit Sian, who surgically stopped the tumour's deterioration and referred her to Mr Belci for rehabilitation. And of course to all the staff at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and at the Spinal Injuries Unit at Stoke Mandeville, and to those who have contributed over the years to the Spinal Injuries Association and to Stoke Mandeville, who have helped to make the comprehensive rehabilitation facilities available to those who need them.
